IT Security & Protection

IT Security & Cyber Security for Businesses

Protect your company against ransomware, phishing attacks, data breaches, DDoS attacks and insider threats. From penetration testing and automated SOC monitoring to IoT security and compliance consulting — matched to your company's risk and size.

Why Cyber Security?

Protect your business effectively

01

24/7 Monitoring

SIEM and EDR systems monitor your infrastructure automatically around the clock and flag anomalies in real time. Assessment and escalation are handled by your dedicated contact during agreed hours — we do not run a permanently staffed 24/7 operations centre.

02

Proactive Protection

Identify vulnerabilities before attackers can exploit them. Penetration testing uncovers security gaps.

03

Rapid Response

In the event of a security incident, we respond immediately with professional incident response management.

04

Compliance & Certification

Meet GDPR, ISO 27001 and BSI baseline protection requirements with our compliance consulting.

05

Penetration Testing

Professional security tests by experienced ethical hackers find vulnerabilities in your systems.

06

Employee Training

Security awareness training protects against phishing and social engineering — the most common point of entry.

Automated 24/7 Monitoring

Enterprise-grade protection — for businesses of every size

Our SOC-as-a-Service monitors your infrastructure automatically around the clock; alerts are assessed and escalated by your dedicated contact during agreed hours. From penetration testing and vulnerability scanning to incident response — the goal is to spot threats early and limit the possible damage.

Penetration Testing

Comprehensive security tests for web applications, networks, APIs and mobile apps.

03

Vulnerability Management

Continuous vulnerability analysis and prioritized recommended actions.

04

Compliance Consulting

Consulting and audit preparation for GDPR, ISO 27001, BSI baseline protection and NIS2.

05

Incident Response

Immediate action on security incidents, forensic analysis and recovery.

06

Security Awareness

Interactive training and simulated phishing campaigns for your employees.

07

Frequently asked questions

The questions we are asked most often before a project – with answers on process, costs and data protection.

What does cyber security for businesses actually mean?

Cyber security covers all technical and organizational measures that protect your IT systems, data and business processes from attacks, data loss and downtime. This includes firewalls, endpoint protection, secure backups, access management, incident response plans and staff awareness. For mid-sized companies it is less about individual products and more about a coordinated protection concept that fits the company's risk and budget. As a regional partner from Bad Camberg in the Taunus, we look at your environment as a whole, not just at isolated building blocks.

Which companies actually need professional cyber security?

In principle every company that works with digital data, email or online services, which in practice means all of them. It is especially important for businesses handling sensitive customer data, companies embedded in supply chains and sectors with regulatory requirements. Small and mid-sized companies are frequently targeted precisely because attackers assume weaker defenses there. We always scale the level of protection to the actual risk and company size rather than selling one-size-fits-all packages.

What does cyber security cost for a mid-sized company?

Costs depend heavily on company size, number of systems and the desired level of protection, so a serious flat rate is not possible. A one-off security assessment is considerably cheaper than ongoing management with monitoring and incident readiness. A staged start usually makes sense: first an inventory and closing the most urgent gaps, then optionally continuous protection. You receive a transparent quote from us up front so you can gauge the effort before committing.

How does working with NovaCon actually work?

We start with an inventory of your IT landscape to identify weak points, data flows and acute risks. Building on that, we create a prioritized action plan that tackles the most critical gaps first and clearly states effort and benefit. We then implement the measures, train your team where needed, and define what should be monitored on an ongoing basis. Throughout, you have a fixed regional contact who knows your business and is reachable.

How long does it take to implement security measures?

An initial assessment with recommendations is often possible within a few days to two weeks, depending on company size. The most urgent immediate measures, such as secure backups, multi-factor authentication and closing open access points, can usually be implemented quickly. A comprehensive protection concept with processes, training and monitoring, by contrast, is built up gradually over weeks to months. We prioritize so that the biggest risk is reduced first, rather than slowing you down with one large project.

What is the difference between IT security and cyber security?

The terms are often used interchangeably in everyday language but differ in emphasis. IT security refers to protecting all information technology, including internal systems and physical devices. Cyber security focuses more strongly on threats from the network, meaning attacks, malware, phishing and data theft over the internet. In practice the two belong together, and we treat them as parts of one shared protection concept rather than separate disciplines.

What does the NIS2 directive have to do with my company?

NIS2 is an EU regulation that imposes binding minimum cyber security requirements and incident reporting duties on many companies. Depending on size and sector, far more companies are affected than before, and suppliers of affected firms can be indirectly obligated too. Whether and how you are specifically affected depends on the individual case and should be checked rather than assumed. We help you assess your starting position and with technical and organizational measures; the legally binding evaluation remains a matter for specialized advisors.

How are cyber security and data protection (GDPR) connected?

The GDPR requires personal data to be protected by appropriate technical and organizational measures, and this is exactly where cyber security provides the technical foundation. A data breach is almost always also a data protection incident with reporting and documentation obligations. Strong protection therefore not only reduces the risk of attack but also helps you meet data protection duties. We handle the technical side of these safeguards; this does not replace a legally binding GDPR assessment, which should be done with a data protection officer.

What happens during a cyberattack, and how fast can you help?

In an acute incident every hour counts: affected systems must be isolated, the extent assessed and normal operations restored as quickly as possible. With working, tested backups a ransomware attack can often be resolved without paying a ransom, which is why we place particular emphasis on them. Ideally an incident response plan exists beforehand so that in an emergency it is clear who does what and who is informed. As a regional partner we are quickly reachable for our managed clients in an emergency and support recovery and root-cause analysis.

How important is employee training for security?

Very important, because a large share of successful attacks starts with human error, such as clicking a phishing email or using a weak password. The best technology helps little if staff cannot recognize fraud attempts or bypass security rules. Regular, practical training and simulated phishing tests noticeably raise awareness and turn your team into the first line of defense. We design training to be clear and jargon-free so it genuinely lands with your workforce in daily practice.

What is a security or penetration test, and do I need one?

In a security or penetration test your systems are checked for weaknesses in a controlled way, similar to how an attacker would proceed, but with your permission and without causing harm. This tells you where real gaps exist before they are exploited. For many companies a structured vulnerability check is a sensible starting point, while a deep penetration test is most worthwhile for critical applications or online services. We agree the scope and depth with you in advance so the test matches your risk and budget.

Is ongoing management worthwhile, or is a one-off setup enough?

A one-off setup closes existing gaps, but the threat landscape constantly changes through new attack methods and software updates. Without ongoing monitoring, new vulnerabilities often go unnoticed for a long time until it is too late. For companies with sensitive data or heavy reliance on IT we therefore recommend continuous management with monitoring, regular updates and incident readiness. For smaller businesses a one-off check with clear recommendations can be a good first step that you expand later.
